Begun last year on a smaller scale, this year Stonegate's Dia de Los Muertos celebration expanded to a much larger celebration, with our entire middle school of 6th through 8th graders participating in Day of the Dead activities. Students were able to work on Day of the Dead activities during their elective time, rotating to participate in all activities. Students from Hispanic households were asked that they and their parents share share their culture with their classmates. The parents were extremely supportive, going so far as to donate food for the event. With the addition this year of traditional Hispanic foods, it was a fun event that staff, students, and families all enjoyed. We hope to have this become a tradition at Stonegate, growing to be a larger event with the inclusion of more grades each year.
